Graduate Students Named to Order of Pegasus

The Order of Pegasus is a selective program recognizing exemplary performance by students in the areas of academic achievement, professional or community service, leadership, and publication or research experiences. Because of the breadth of accomplishments required for this award, the Order of Pegasus is the most prestigious and significant student award that can be attained at the university.

Congratulations are bestowed to this year's Graduate Student honorees:

Gregory Austin Jr. is pursuing his master’s degree in the DeVos Sports Business Management program in the College of Business Administration. While in the program, he has received the Joe Lapchick Memorial Scholarship and the Black Coaches and Administrators Ethnic Minority Post Graduate Scholarship. Upon graduation, Austin will continue working as an event manager at Disney Sports Attractions and one day hopes to become a business owner focused on the physical and mental development of players.

Satyender Goel is a Chemistry doctoral student in the College of Sciences. He has three publications and has presented in more than 15 national and state level conferences while working at the NanoScience Technology Center (NSTC). Upon graduation, Goel wants to be involved with planning and management at a research oriented institute or company and hopes to serve humankind with new innovations and services.

Mustafa Gül is pursuing his PhD in Civil Engineering from the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Gül has received multiple travel awards to present his research abroad and received a scholarship to attend an Asia-Pacific Summer School on Smart Structures Technology in South Korea for the summer of 2008. Upon graduating in summer 2009, Gül hopes to continue his research at UCF as a post-doctoral research associate and then get a faculty position to continue his academic career.

Margaret Ann Shillingford is a Counselor Education doctoral student pursuing a PhD in Counselor Education from the College of Education. She received the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES)’s 2009 Outstanding Doctoral Student award and the Ross Trust scholarship from the American School Counselor Association. Upon graduation, Shillingford will be employed as a tenure-track faculty member in the Counselor Education Department at the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
