Introduction

Thank you for agreeing to serve as a program director for your graduate program this year. It is a very important leadership position at the university and puts a human face to our programs for our graduate students and faculty. The commitment that you have taken on is a time consuming one, but valuable in ensuring the quality of our academic offerings and ultimately the reputation of the university. It is also a good opportunity to improve or use skills that are important to administrative positions at the university.

In this role, you will begin to see the connections between recruiting, admissions, advisement, and how other factors such as seminars, orientations, and other events help to provide a quality environment for students and faculty.

The Graduate College is ready to help you with any problem at any time. We are here to serve you. In this section you will find topics arranged by timeline, with a calendar of important events, a listing of duties, and other information to assist.

We welcome your comments and suggestions to make this a more effective tool for program directors, so please let us know if you have suggestions. Thank you for serving and we hope that you will find this a satisfying experience.
